Pierce Meyer — Owner, Surfer & Shaper

About Us

Pierce Meyer is a true entrepreneur.  Pierce started shaping surfboards at the young age of thirteen, when he decided working as an employee wasn’t for him.  He wanted to be a successful businessman.  What better way for him to make money than doing the three things he is the most passionate about, surfing, art, and design.  He started his own label Pierce-Shapes Custom Surfboards.

In the nineteen forties and fifties there were no such things as surf shops only shapers. When people bought surfboards, they were completely customized to the person’s height, weight, style, and most importantly what type of waves they were going to be riding. Today you can walk into a surf shop pick up a board off the rack that was either made in a mold, pre-shaped by a computer or worse “Made In Taiwan” and pay an arm and leg for it.

Pierce believes that the best surfboards are customized to each of his customer’s skills and needs.  “Every individual person has their own body shape and their own very different style of surfing, shouldn’t their surfboard complement that.”   Pierce guarantees his boards will be the best in quality, performance and also the most competitively priced custom surfboards in south Florida. He doesn’t just specialize in polyurethane high performance surfboards with bottom contours of concaves and convexes but also classic balsa wood longboards, retro fishes and single fins. He imports the balsa wood directly from Ecuador, which has the whitest and brightest balsa wood in the world.

“A surfboard shaper who hand makes his boards isn't just a toy maker, but an artist as well, fine tuning each sculpture into a masterpiece until it becomes Functional Art.

Your custom surfboard is your paint brush, and the face of the wave is your canvas be Creative and go Surfing.”
